Further info distributed this afternoon by the Corp of Engineers now says the Yazoo River Basin will flood between 95'-107' ASL depending on the duration of the crest at Vicksburg, any futher crest upgrades, and whether or not there are any levee breaches in the Vicksburg area. This is at least somewhat better news than earlier. This would put the flood line from somewhere south of Hollandale to south of Rolling Fork depending on the final staus. I'm told the earlier estimated flood level of 109' may have inundated up to 900,000 acres in the south Delta

Phil, please continue to keep us updated and thanks for the info.

For those who may not have heard, Ann Hoggett Mixson's precious brother, Alan, passed away this past Monday, 5/2/11. Ann, her husband Jim and her mother are living in Greenville. Ann takes wonderful care of her mother who is in her 90's but as we all know this is a full time job. Please keep Ann and her family in your prayers.

Well the river has finally crested in Greenville and will begin a very slow fall. We will probably remain above flood stage until at least the first week of June. Authorities will continue patroling the levees 24/7 at least until the Greenville gage falls from 64.2' to 55-57' maybe around the first of June. There have been many sand boils and levee repairs and that will continue for a while but we are breathing at least a little bit better.

For the best series of aerial views of the flood conditions that I've seen to date, go to www.greenville.patrickfink.com

Doug was such a good guy.  Always had such a dry wit about him.  Last time I saw him he repaired my phone, of course that was back when Ma Bell had a phone in every home.  Same ole' Doug, keeping a straight face and making me laugh the whole time!  My prayers are with Connie and their family.

As most of you know, the chancellor and athletic director in their infinite ignorance decided that we needed a new mascot.  More political correctness gone awry.  Well I am working with the Colonel Reb Political Action Committee to try to pass an amendment that would return Colonel Rebel to the sidelines as Ole Miss's official mascot.  Now I know many of you are probably fans of other schools, but we could use your support.  I'm sure if someone was trying to take away your mascot you would not be happy either.  Paricularly given that it is for such a lame reason.  In order to get the amendment on the ballot in 2012, we have to get one hundred thousand signatures of registered voters.  There is a kickoff rally this Saturday night, July 23rd in Holly Springs starting at 5:00 p.m.  We are hoping that many people will show up to get this thing started.  We have one year to get all the signatures.  If you are interested in helping with this please contact me, and I can send you some blank petitions.

Thanks,

Sam Fleming

They did that with Southern Miss just before I went there, too.  They were the Generals, and they changed it to the Golden Eagles.

I have often wondered about a certain incident that happened over 40 plus years ago.   Whom is responsible for filling the planters out in front of the H.S. with water and then hung dead fish in the trees.  That was a big bold move and it should rank as one of the best harmless pranks ever.    Time to fess up.  Who done It?

I saw on a posting on the "Greenville Remembered" site that one of our classmates (my second cousin) had recently passed away. Shelia Laney Domino. She was 61 and died of cancer. I am sure many of you remember her and like me mourn her passing. I regret that I had to find out about her passing through the web, but we had lost touch over the years as we each "went about our lives". My prayers are with her remaining family. She was a beautiful lady.

Hey Ken,

I did not know about Shelia's death and am sad to hear it. I remember her. I think they lived on HIghway 1 North. I remember her smile, exactly the same one you see in her profile pictures. Thank you for the message.

She did have a beautiful smile Scooter. The last time I saw her it was still the same although the years had change things as they have with all of us. She suffered a terrible lose when she lost her son to a tragic accident (peanut alergic reaction) his freshman or sophmore year at UM ( I believe). She never recovered from that according to her brother and her early departure in that sense brought about the reunion that she so longed for. Let's just say that she had more than her  share of difficult times in this life, but now has had those burdens lifted.

Has anyone hear if there's going to be a class reunion next year. It was rumored at the last reunion that there was going to be one in five years instead of ten years.????????

Class of 69 is discussing the potential for a weekend to be set aside this summer, perhaps first weekend of August for a 45 Year Reunion. Not quite as formal or planned out as the 10 year reunions but a time to get together with friends.   Watch for postings and details on this site.

I guess I posted in the wrong place, since nothing ever showed up on the Message Forum.  I wanted to let everyone who knew my Mom know that she passed away on March 14th after living with Alzheimer disease for about 3 years.

She was 92 and had lived with my sister Susan since 1988.  She moved up there after Dad passed away in November 1987.

Please keep her in your prayers.
