Jimmy Peets **

Jimmy Monroe Peets, 64, of Greenville,  He passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at his home. 

Jimmy was born Sept. 24, 1951, in Greenville, the son of George Monroe Peets and Ruby Nell Winters Peets. Jimmy was a Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the 1970 class of Greenville High School, where he excelled as an athlete. After graduation, Jimmy signed a professional baseball contract with the Boston Red Sox. After two and a half years, elbow problems sent him back to Greenville, where he went on to earn an associate’s degree from Mississippi Delta Community College and then on to Delta State University. After college, Jimmy spent 25 years with Entergy and left to pursue real estate development. Jimmy spent the last 12 years of his working career as the managing owner of Cotton Creek Apartments. Jimmy served on the City of Greenville’s Planning Commission and most recently, the Washington County Planning Commission. He was a member of the Greenville Golf & Country Club, the Italian Club of Greenville and the Greenville Elks Club.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Ruby Nell Peets; his wife of 41 years, Carol Sue Adams Peets; one son, Jason Adam (Reagan White) Peets; one daughter, Melissa Peets (Troy Edwards) Peters; four grandchildren, Aiden Adam Peets, Dylan Reynolds Peets, Olivia Adeline Peters and Emerson Annabelle Peters; one sister, Diane Peets (Dennis) Selby; one niece, Jennifer Selby Freer; one nephew, William Casey Selby; and one brother-in-law, Charles Otis Adams.
